September 24th, out on the road, heading east, driving Hwy. 36, most of the way. We stopped just over the bridge to Illinois from Hannibal, MO at the John Hay Recreation Area to stretch our legs and find a campground for the night. Up early this morning for another long day. Only stops we made were for food and fuel and a photo stop beside the Mississippi River before heading to Keokuk for the night. After dinner we walked down to the river and watched a tug push barges into the lock, one o 23 locks on the river.

Along the back roads there is corn field after corn field, the shopping centre was surrounded by a corn field.

I would have liked to visit the temple and see the intricate workmanship in the building but unless you have a current temple recommend from the church you are not allowed to enter the temple. ...
