... Our first few days of work consisted of filling many mini bulk bags (they hold 750kg) with 15kg bags of fertilizer. Another HelpEx volunteer came to stay for a couple of weeks, so that sped things up. He was also Canadian, from Quebec. We had to cook all his meals for him because he could not cook, but cooking was one of the more enjoyable things to do at the farm so we never minded too much.

Ok it's so, so late but I am going to try and write down what has happened so far... no doubt I'll miss heaps out and it may be months before I get to the actual living in Sapporo part of my story but hey, this is something!!

So Monday the 10th of January I left Perth and flew to Narita airport, Tokyo. I had an uneventful 4 hour stopover in Denpasar, Indonesia of which the most interesting thing that happened was I called Dad for about 5 minutes from an airport ...

... was this speed/reaction based card game which was quite fun (also the reason the blog is going up a bit late - expect it to happen again :p)
Apparently the prefecture north of us had a metre of snow today and lots of cars got trapped, but it was actually quite warm here/Mito. I STILL LIVE IN HOPE!
Meeting the mayor tomorrow and doing a tea ceremony as well. Will report back tomorrow. :)

Today we went back to the Oarai Aquarium. It was a good afternoon to do it – a grey, rainy Monday. It was quiet and peaceful.
