... The Saguaro cactus is fasinating. They primarily grow in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona and usually live 40 to 60 years (some have lived to 150 years). They grow very slow, e.g., a 10 year old cactus might be 1.5 inches. They don't start growing their "arms" or spears until the age of 70 to 75. This is also the home of wild pigs, coyotes, mule deer, hawks, falcons, various birds, ...
... 1880's abandoned copper mine. We were quite proud of the boys for being able to hike that far!
Zak also celebrated his 8th birthday. The first time he has not celebrated this big day at home without friends to hang out with, but he thought that this birthday was the best so far!
We much enjoy the Sonoran desert and the beautiful vistas of this region, and are looking forward to exploring more of the area.

On the hike we saw really prickly cactus, and Emma got pricked by one. She was walking and it got stuck on the top of her shoe and we couldn’t get it out, so she had to take ...
... I did get a shot of a hummingbird which turned out decent. We haven't identified him yet, so could use some help there.
Sleep was good, in the quiet and darkness here. Today we're off to town to re-supply. Later we'll search out a cache or two nearby. Then we'll dine and enjoy life on the road. Lynn is getting excited about returning home. Perhaps that's the distraction that helped me win a game of UNO. It's all good!
