Expecting something in the region of 10,000+ aircraft, in no time at all, the homebuilt camping area filled up.
There was no need for an alarm clock – each morning we were awoken by aircraft engines just before 6am! There are nearly as many aircraft at the EAA Airventure at the same time as there are in the whole of Australia! They come in all shapes and sizes - from microlights to an Airbus A350 and a B52 bomber. Lots of people fly in and camp with their planes. We parked in Camp Scholler, a massive camping area, nearly full, with reportedly up to 30,000 RVs plus tents.
