My flight to New Zealand is in 4 days and I think I have everything ready to go. It is hard to say though because I have never planned for a trip quite like this.

The main supplies I will be bringing are:

      • 65 Liter Backpack
      • 2 person tent
      • Cooking stove and utilities,
      • Wet suit, snorkel, and ...

      In Poughkeepsie

... entered into the iPad & we're off. Shopping nirvana is 32 miles/45 minutes away down the NY Thruway which is a 6 lane toll road. Getting there was a breeze, no rain, light traffic. We arrived not long after it opened so parking was simple, the place was really lovely but it started to rain (a very fine mist that didn't let up all day) First stop, Polo Ralph Lauren of course. Sale was ok, same as Canada actually. There were about 3 Polo stores ...

The city has no parallel in Australia that we could think of. It was so rundown. We thought we could just drive around America like we do at ...

... couldn't tell which room was Eleanor's and which was that of the manservant by the time I walked up and down the corridor fighting my way to the doorways to take photos. Now I can only identify two of the rooms (I hope).

There were other parts of the FDR historical site to visit, like Val-Kill, Eleanor's retreat cottage, but we ran out of time so headed off for our hotel with the possibility of walking on the bridge over the Hudson if we had time.

... Carol, Jeannie and Otto but it may have been somewhere else.

We got to our Fishkill hotel just about when it was getting dark. It was also pretty cold as we (or I) had to make multiple trips to the car. We were very pleasantly surprised by the spacious "suite" with kitchenette - where we could nourish ourselves on leftovers from our dinner at Kara and John's. Thank you, John, for all the food!
