“Excellent room and excellent hosts”
The accomodation is 1km west of the town centre offering beautiful countryside views and a quiet sleep. The rooms were large and very clean. Modern ensuite in each room. The Hosts, Barbara and Michael were very friendly and know the area very well and were full of good ideas for touring, eating and traditional music - a must in Dingle. Highest recommendation.

Historical Traveler Reviews Milestone House Dingle
Most Gracious Hosts!! Wonderful Place.
Without a doubt, the highlight of our trip was the Dingle Peninsula and a lot of that is because of Barbara and Michael Carroll. They made us feel like long lost family. Barbara gave us tour directions, recommending places to stop for photos, made reservations at a concert in town (loved it), recommended a restaurant and made reservations for us. While we were eating, both Michael and Barbara, who were also dining there (Ashes-very good) to see how we were. Michael is the cook and made the best breakfasts. We had never had salmon cooked in our scrambled eggs, but it was delicious. The rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. If we ever travel to Ireland again, we will make a point to stay at Milesone.
Wonderful B&B
Five of us spent 3 nights with Barbara and Michael at the Milestone at the end of September. They obviously love running a B&B, and doted on all of us, especially my 81-year-old mother. They couldn't have made us feel more welcome and comfortable. Their house is cozy but modern, with a spacious sitting and dining room for guests. Breakfasts were great, with a variety of choices. The scrambled eggs and salmon were a particular treat.

Great Hospitality
Our stay at Milestone was great from the moment we arrived. We had a friendly welcome from Barbara offering us refreshments and plenty of information about the local area, in particular the Slea Head Peninsula and drive which starts really close to the house - well worth a drive, walk or bike around. We ate our evening meal at Murphy's bar in Dingle town which was recommended by Barbara and the food here was grand! There was live music on in the bar which was also very good. The breakfast at The Milestone in the morning was fabulous we would highly recommend it - nothing short of a 5* hotel feast with home-made soda bread, made by Michael and a choice of a full Irish or Salmon and Eggs, herbal teas, the list goes on - full praise to Barbara and Michael of The Milestone.
We were so at home and thrilled with the Milestone
We stayed at the Milestone in June. When we arrived there were two families in the living room having tea and cookies. We joined them and and they raved about how great the advice Barbara and Michael had given them. Barbara and Michael could not have made us feel more welcome. It was like they felt it was thier personal responsibility to make sure we had the best time possible. Barbara lent me sunscreen when it was too late to get it at the store and taught my 17 year old all about the game of hurling. Michael and Barbara were so nice I felt like I was still with my family (we had spent the first week visiting family in Ireland).
The breakfast was great and there was incredible variety. I would highly recommend this B and B. I traveled with my husband and two teenage boys and Barbara gave us some ideas that really helped everyone have a great time. She also set the my husband and son up to golf.
Dingle - Milestone House B&B
This was by FAR the best B&B experience I have had in any country.
My mother and I spent a week in Dingle with Milestone as our home base, and it was the best choice we could have made! Michael and Barbara are incredibly generous-spirited people, and they do an excellent job hosting their guests. In the week we were there, I saw them welcome many different sets of people, and Barbara customized her "local tips" information to suit the interests of each different group; whether you go for sightseeing, for music, for food, for archaeology, or whatever your interests are, Barbara listens so well that she tells each group what they most need to know.
The rooms are beautiful, the views are great, and the breakfasts have spoiled me forever -- eggs and smoked salmon - yum!; Michael's incredible bread (fresh-baked early every morning) - yum!; Barbara's mother's homemade marmalade and black currant jam - yum! (Thanks, Anne!)
There was always hot water, and their parlor was a warm and welcoming place to visit with other guests, unlike the other B&B's we stayed in, where being in the house meant being isolated in our own room.
I really want to recommend Milestone House over any B&B I've ever stayed in ... but I'm torn -- I want them to have room for ME when I'm able to go back again!
I'm completely in love with Michael and Barbara (and Anne ... AND Linda), and with Dingle, and with the Dingle Peninsula; and I don't think I would have come away feeling that way without Michael and Barbara.
(Did I mention Michael's BREAD?? WOW!!)
Stay at The Milestone
Stayed with Micheal and Barbara for two nights in June. Upon arrival Michael gave us tea and cookies and sat down with us to give us the lay of the land and recommend a pub for dinner. He also gave us a map of the peninsula and directed us to some hidden spots to take photos. The rooms were comfy and breakfast was to die for. Barbara is a member at the local golf club and can arrange tee times. Located just 90 seconds by car from the center of town they are convinient to town and right on the Slea Head drive. If you stay with them you won't be disappointed
Milestone -- Irish Hospitality at its finest!
I can't say enough about the warmth and hospitality Barbara and Michael share with their guests at the Milestone House! From the minute we walked in the door Barbara made sure we felt welcome, and sat down with us to inform us of all the best sites to see in Dingle. If we had stayed at any other B&B we would certainly not have felt as at home.
The breakfasts that Micheal cooks every morning are outstanding, and his bread is to die for. Despite the inclement weather that was a permanent fixture for our stay in Dingle-- Dingle was a highlight of our trip to Ireland, and that was due in most part to our wonderful hosts. Barbara and Michael were our best hosts in Ireland, and I cannot say enough about them!
Nice place in Dingle just a short way from the center
If you are going to explore the Dingle Peninsula, the Dingle town area is a great place to be, and this B&B surpassed my expectations. The hosts were very friendly and helpful (they have a hand written map to show you more specific points along the "ring of dingle" and they will talk you through it). The breakfast was awesome and plentiful. The room was comfy. When staying here we found it was best to just drive the 2 minutes into Dingle rather than walk, especially if it's raining. There is plenty of parking in town though (in May at least)
Cheers!
Great choice in Dingle Town
Our family spent 10 days in Ireland last fall staying in B&Bs each night. Irish hospitality is legendary and all true! One of our absolute highlights was our stay at the Milestone, just outside of Dingle town. Barbara, with an extensive travel background, and Michael Carroll are transplanted Dubliners with a passion to please. Over a cup of coffee, Barbara sat right down with us and pulled out maps of not to be missed sites in town and especially Slea Head Drive on the Peninsula. For the evening, she went through all of their favorite restaurants and pubs with Irish "trad" music. They even called ahead to book the best table right by the fireplace at the James Ashe restaurant and their suggestion was just perfect. The Carrolls home and B&B, with spectacular views of Dingle Bay, was just the best; clean, spacious, and the owners are just a delightful, friendly couple. The food included wonderful locally-caught salmon. They sent us home with a treasured recipe for Guinness Irish stew and also Michael's terrific Irish soda bread. If you're heading to Dingle, you'll love the Milestone...we sure did. Web: --------- Phone (from the US) ----------- E-mail: ---------------------
Loved the Milestone House
Just wanted to say what a wonderful time we had at the Milestone House B&B in Dingle. Hosts Barbara and Michael were just absolutely fantastic. From the minute my wife and I walked into their home they made us feel like family. We spent 3 nights there March 18 leaving on the 21st. We actually were sad to leave them, was like visiting family. Barbara is just great telling you about the Dingle area, where to eat, what to do and see, where to go for music. Michael is knowledgeable about all the areas in Ireland the routes to take and what to see. The breakfast is awesome, 4 different kinds of juices, fresh fruit, different cerals, Michael bakes fresh bread every morning that is very tasty. Different hot breakfasts to choose from, an absolute feast. This is absolutely the best B&B my wife and I have ever been in. Definitely recommend it , I know we will come back, Lee, email - ---

Dingle (An Daingean). Perfect
We skipped over the Cork region and headed directly west from Lismore, Waterford area, for a 4 hour drive to the Dingle peninsular in the Kerry county.
The South west has 3 peninsulas of extraordinary scenery; Beara, Kerry, Dingle that are a must for any trip to Ireland. The slightly more touristy area is further south of Dingle around …
