... get to the point where I wake up in the morning with nothing on my plate other than deciding how I want to spend my day. Finally having the time to get to know San Miguel, its people and all it has to offer. But as I lay here listening to the sound of chipping, routing and rebar being cut with a handmade saw I realize that day is a still a long way off.

*****-shawl, purchased in Rishikesh, India. Story pending.

San Miguel - a feast for the eyes.

... Sara, to join him here.

The first thing that really struck me about SMA was that it was FREEZING compared to the temperatures that I was expecting. Despite my blanket and my heater, I was cold at night and had to be given yet another blanket. We actually had a couple of cloudy and windy days as well. Muy frio!! Since I'd left my woolen vest in Daniel's car, I had only one remaining warm top garment, my fleece jacket, and it was far from adequate. Luckily ...

How it all began

... all around me; I can count five churches from where I sit. Dogs bark in the distance and the sounds on the street below me slowly rise as my neighbors begin another day. By day four Kevin and I are completely enamored with San Miguel so we do what any other logical couple would do; we contact a ...

The Great Experiment

... Kevin. This will be a good opportunity for the two to have some quality father/daughter time. That or they will kill each other. Did I mention this was an experiment?

Cruising at 35,000 feet, 30 minutes into the flight the sun begins to rise and fills the cabin with its warmth. I close my eyes and my smile becomes even broader with the realization that the next five months will be filled with moments like this.

... not sure of spelling). Javier said he has three daughters and a son and has three grand children.

I am getting a little better about having a caddy and he really does help shape my shots, if only I were more consistent with them. I had a much better round with chip shots only missing three for the eighteen holes and putts. The trees provided the major hazard as I forgot to aim at them so I would not hit them, instead I aimed for the gaps and managed to hit most of the trees. I ...

Spending time in Colonia San Antonio

... restaurant I knew about....a pizza place. The pizza was crispy crust with lots of toppings and did the job of warming and filling us up. Now as we have expanded our neighborhood exploring we have found more places. Yesterday it was a tasty roast pork sandwich in an nice crusty roll purchased at the local butcher shop for $1.50 each. Brought them back and ate in our patio accompanied by chunks of the pineapple, diet coke, and some ...

... if weighed down by freshly fallen snow. Only there was no snow, only frost, and these were pine trees with needles instead of leaves, contrary to the sight we were experiencing. As we continued upward we noticed a change int the forest floor as well. The dirt and moss ground had little orange triangles protruding skyward which slowly became thicker and thicker as we continued going up. Leaning over for closer inspection revealed the royal design of ...
