... work the flushing out grey, black water and filling in fresh.
Day 3: We now intend to cut across the south island towards the East coast and possibly Milford Sound/Queenstown. Having no idea of the terrain and how much time it might take us to reach were not sure of where we would reach. Enroute we decided to hit MIlford Sound straightaway. The landscape on this route changes dramatically from the coastal to green pastures and meadows with grazing sheep all over. In ...
... As we were looking, we stumbled across a water-front restaurant that was having crazy Happy Hours deals, so...we stayed. We also got a bottle of champagne and enjoyed it on the beach. We didn't have to work the next day. Akaroa was absolutely stunning and since we visited there, we have had a number of people from the South Island tell us that's one of their favorite places - and ours too.
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand unbound... as a Haka, a traditional Maori dance, so that we can welcome one of our future speakers the traditional Maori way. Also, the Lord gave him a song in the Maori language that he wrote this week on guitar based on Psalm 121:1-2 - "I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth." He didn't know this at the time, but that was the ...
Oxford, South Island, New Zealand erincastillo... as my view. Thankfully the rain cleared up in this time and I was ready to hit the town. I had to first check in with the hot air ballooning company I'd be flying with the next morning to reconfirm my booking and check that it would be going ahead re weather. I was told to ring a number after 4am the next day to get a recorded message from the pilot as to whether or not the flight was a goer. Venturing out into this new place on my own was admittedly a bit ...
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand krissy_ann... anywhere. Asking the local Emo crowd, they point us in the direction of out of town. We walk and walk and eventually give up, getting the bus back to town. I grab a nasty kebab thing and head back to realise that there is a pizzeria underneath the hostel - bugger. I collapse into bed at about 8pm for hangover snooze awoken by Kim at around 10pm with pizza! Blue cheese and mushroom pizza, which i almost choke on as it tastes like feet. I sulkily crawl back into bed and fall back to sleep for the night.
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand adam_and_kim... like to go back with lots of dosh and stay in one of the posh hotels and try all of the extreme sports on offer. We would definitely recommend it even for a holiday. Our drive to the East coast was pretty dull as a rainstorm had kept us awake for most of the night ... we had been expecting great views on the coast but Oamaru, Timaru and Temuka much resembled Redcar, Seaton and Hartlepool (prior to redevelopment) so we were a little naffed off and decided to bomb it ...
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand sistersontour... wait to take over the Camper ( later to be named Shelly!! Me-Shell get it!!!) More thunder and lightning that day was this an omen?!!!! We spent the first night in Akaroa we have been there before. Had **** dinner then off to bed. Went shopping the next day to buy bit's and bob's for our 10 week's in the camper.
Christchurch, New Zealand kazzerby... s gone ;)
We finished packing, had a much-deserved drink, and then enjoyed our top floor balcony views over the city. It was a beautiful day, boiling hot with bright blue skies. Perfect.
Katie did some clothes washing while I hared into town to buy Bex, her boyfriend Hutchy & Katie some quick Xmas presents!
An hour or so later Bex & Hutchy got to our apartment, and ...
