... Fried Green Tomatoes which were surprisingly nice and it's a southern thing so we thought we should try it. It's basically a battered green tomato. Quite tasty but you don't need too many with the batter. Why is it so hot while I write this blog (I am in the Keys at the moment so I'm roasting!!!) Wow! We slept so well, but we really have to get up and get going!

On our way to SC yesterday I had called my very favorite female cousin, Pam, to ask her to tell her mom that I would be in Simpsonville today but only for 30 minutes or so. I wouldn't have time to swing by, but wanted her to know I was thinking about her.

We stopped by the Allman Brothers museum at Macon (rhymes with bacon) yesterday, which is 'the big house' where the band all lived at the height of their creative period. Definitely one for the obsessive fan, but still ok just to wander around aimlessly, despite a lack of any meaningful labelling. Hey, that's rock and roll, dude.

Originally called Camp Sumpter, it was unfinished when the first Union prisoners of war arrived in February of 1864. Intended to house 10,000 POW's, it soon had to be expanded from a 16 1/2 acre pen to over 26 acres.
