... for a week trying to find new routes. To be clear a porta-ledge is a kind of suspended tent that is attached by string and blu-tack to the mountain so you can sleep as you dangle 1500 feet above the rest of us. ... the redwoods, perfect for the environment. There are a few funky old towns along the way.

After leaving the river, we took back roads to the outskirts of Santa Rosa and then encountered city traffic and congestion. Darn, back to "civilization". But it was nice to get to my brother's new home at Oakmont, an oasis nestled among oak trees and gorgeous Sonoma County hills and the famed Sonoma County wine country.

... there with the happy families. Even the homeless guys were happy - in fact one of them owned his own cellphone and we took a picture of him calling someone.

We left about an hour and a half into the concert and stopped by Santa Rosa downtown for a little while before heading back to the hotel and polishing off the bottle of wine. We wanted to wake up early the next day for some bike riding and vineyards.
