... Lake, I planned to hike 9-10 more miles to the next water and camp at Chinook Creek which is where I am now. We got free drinks and fruit from some trail angels that were parked at a trailhead. The catch was that they handed us religious propaganda. Damn!!! We don't need more weight to carry. I guess we can use it as TP in a pinch. On the way to camp, I made acquaintances with a girl who just lost her hiking buddy in Shasta ...

After a shower and laundry, it was time for a huge lunch and a movie at the theater. Tomorrow, the plan is for the usual zero day chores of resupply/post office errands and of course, ...

... traffic had to pull over to let us by, and luckily we did not meet much oncoming traffic. At times we questioned our decision to come this way, but it did prove worthwhile and the scenery was beautiful. Lava Beds National Monument lies on the flanks of the massive Medicine Lake Volcano, which during the last half-million years has erupted many times spewing lava, cinders and rocks over ...

Driving from Arcata to Mt. Shasta was a bit brutal; one-lane highway traffic & road construction. After lots of mountain climbing for my car, I made it to my Uncle Mike & Aunt Juicy's cabin, in McCloud. My cousin Shar was also there, with her husband, Josh, & baby boy, Logan. They met me in town & we drove to a nearby waterfall that was a nice 2 mile stretch for the legs. What a pretty area! Shar crowned me a fairy, which the kids always ...
