... clan was again reunited one last time.
We couldn't have wished for a more perfect balance of work and time off on Maui and feel we definitely experienced it to the full. So it was time to say goodbye to our third Hawaiian island and to Peter and Elmer. We will NEVER forget our time here and our memories of all the unique people (and dogs) we met will forever stay in our hearts.
This morning was spent exploring the old colonial town of Lahaina. It had a real old town feel about it, with it's wooden buildings and boardwalks. Carol got her retail fix, hopefully for a while. After lunch we toured up the North East coast ( Highway 30 ) to Kahakuloa Point. As we travelled up the Highway we started with dual carriageway this soon changed to two lanes each side and then to one lane each side. This was ...
... so it wasn't ideal snorkeling conditions, but the surfers were happy and the surf was incredible as it crashed into the lava rock creating a huge splash. We saw surfers surfing in places that they normally can't because the waves were breaking so close to shore. As for the humpbacks, they were an addiction. "Just one more blow" or "One more splash" we would say as we watched them from shore. Such magnificent and powerful creatures. ...
... I had printed representing places to see on the way. This trail looked a bit boring so we continued on. Our guide starts speaking of a park up ahead where the King murdered his Princess in a cave on the beach because he was crazy and she tried to hide from him. This one sounded very interesting and he said cave, so we turned left at the park sign reading Waianapanapa State Park. We took the path down and located the cave the poor little princess was slaughtered in and ...
... been happy with the trip. We boarded our connecting flight after the kids burnt some energy in the terminal. All was going well until we were informed that there would be a slight delay. Catering had forgotten to stock the plane with water. Much of the goodwill of the children was lost at this juncture. A half an hour later we were informed that, in their efforts to restock the plane, Catering had hit the plane ...
