Not a bad place to spend the night...

We ended up in Orvieto sa we saw a friends photos of the catherdral and thought it was a must see. The cathedral was like a mini Florence Duomo, but 100% cleaner as the one in Florence is nearly black on the outside with pollution. The front facade on the cathedral is covered in beautiful gold leaf frescos that were glittering in the afternoon sunshine. Had a wander through the old town which was full of life as ...

In the Pits... and it's very pretty

From the Med we drove inland to the east and into Southern Tuscany. We drove through some plain countryside and were about 2 kms from our destination when we commented on where is the town as we could not see it. Around a hair pin bend and we went wow! There in front of us was the walled city of Pitigliano nested on the top of hill surrounded by deep gorges. We found the perfect park for the night which looked across at the old city, with the highlight being its 16th ...

Torre del Falco Description

... refuge, Villa Torre del Falco, blends a modern and contemporary aesthetic with a traditional and rustic ideal to create an unconventional environment that is simultaneously chic, serene, and inspiring. The 4 hectare private grounds command numerous breathtaking vistas. Nestled atop the valley surrounding Lago di Vico, and bordering the medieval town of Ronciglione, the villaʼs landscape is steeped in Roman and Etruscan history.

Tuscany may be our new home

... until they started practicing their swear words in English. It took them a while to realize we understood what they were saying, but we all had a good laugh about it!

We finally got to Siena, and only had a couple hours. While it's a beautiful city, after Montepulciano it seemed a little big and touristy to us. But we were able to relax in Il Campo, and have some excellent Gelati.

Unique city on a hill

... back of the town, a dirt path continued down the side of the hill and led to caves that were bored beneath the town. One that went completely through the mountain, led down to a river bed that had the remains of an ancient Roman road. I obviously explored this area as much as I could. I got some amazing pizza and ate it on the ledge of the cliff. I only had a minimal amount of time in ...

The Drive back North

... decorated and maintained. Bryan voted the bathrooms the best by far in all of Italy . What better recommendation can any hotel have. The price tag? Only about $ 300.00 a night in the off season(including the empty pool!). Regretfully we depart Positano and continue along the coast. We soon arrive at the town of Amalfi . From a distance, this looks quite as pretty as Positano, but on closer inspection, it is much more commercial, with ...
