i had a great stay at the matahari cottages, lovely little place set away from the main street. fab outdoor breakfast area overlooking the lovely infinity pool. set in lush gardens, very picturesque. good and varied breakfast included as well. the staff were beyond helpful and so friendly :) the rooms were all individual and very unique :)

We're in Ubud now.  The town and our bed and breakfast are both pretty amazing.  We're staying at Matahari Cottage Bed and Breakfast, which is an establishment quasi off a small street, quasi in the jungle.  There are 6 separate cottages with different themes--we're in the Batavia Dacha Cottage.  It has a Dutch twist.

... an hour until sunset. A few metres along the path was a tiny café set into the rice paddy. The woman there told us it was a 2 hour walk back to Ubud if we continue forward. The choice was made then and there as we hid under her bamboo roof, we would walk back the way we came, happy that we made it more than half way along the ridge trek and that we had a beautiful hand painted egg made from wood.
