Today I did a practice run packing my backpack. I try to travel light, so I really have to think about what I should bring and what I should leave at home. I managed to get everything I need in there - I think. Over the next few days I'll have some time to remember small odds and ends that I'm forgetting. I also need to fit a water bottle in there somehow!

We had already purchased our 3-day muni pass on our first day in The City, and had not used it at all on the second day. Ever looking for a bargain and liking to optimise on value, I was keen to use our muni before it expired to at least break even. The 3-day muni had cost us $26 and one cable car fare was $6, so we needed to get another one or two cable car rides in to have made it worth the cost. We saw enough people puffing their way up the hill and considering how hard it was to walk down the hill, I'm very pleased we managed to view it from the top-down! It is known as the "crookedest street in the world", although I'm pretty sure that could be contested, the Americans claim it. It has 8 sharp turns on 40 degree slope, allowing traffic to descend the steep incline safely. Lots of cars drove down it while we were there. One lady standing up ...

... spasms but all my Enstone men have been on hand to help & they have even carried my handbag which really suited Simon he calls it a man bag - sounds like an epsiode of Friends! We strolled part way over the Golden Gate Bridge & stopped for a well earned milkshake at Mel's Diner. When we got back to the apartment (where we are staying) the owners kindly invited us to their place for some drinks & ...

... the street. I was so used to being on the go-go-go. So relaxing to go on a slower pace.

We walked down the street for a bit and decided to get lunch. So happy to get French fries. I kept on telling Sara how much I was so happy to get American food. Then, I went off how unhealthy I was in Beijing with the grease and carbs.

Right after lunch, we visited Stanford University! I always ...
