Family time in Girona

We went on a beautiful day and explored the old city, the wall (muralla) and had a lot of fun going up to the top of the turrets! Then we went for lunch in the old city at a cute cafe called El Bistro. I had delicious carrot soup, and roast pork, and some Belgian beer! Ever since Brussels I've been addicted!
Then it was time to catch the train back to Barcelona!

Girona and Figures
... that had a long, brick wall to walk along and watch towers that we could climb up. From the view at the top of the fort, we could see the snowy covered French Alps in the distance. My first sighting of another country! We spent the day exploring the town and stopping cafes in for Irish coffee when needed to warm up a bit. Can't Find the Words To Say
I am absolutely obsessed with this place.
You can see over the entire town. We were there right around sunset, and the way it painted parts of buildings gold was absolutely beautiful. It was such a reminder to me that this whole thing is His. It amazes me how many times in my life the words "wow" and "beautiful" seem so lacking and fail to describe the beauty of this world. He has created such a masterpiece.

... left Figueras and headed toward the most eastern point of Spain to see the lighthouse, where we had lunch before returning to the fishing village of Cadaques and to the home of Dali.
Now a museum, it is easy to see the inspiratation in nature that Dali used in much of his work. Only allowing a few people in at a time, the house was a very interesting place to visit. The land around the house was used for live groves and much artwork ...
Olot and Besalu
... There are three volcanic craters in the town, but these turned out to be pretty but not as interesting as we'd hoped. While the town was nice, we quickly decided there wouldn't be much to keep us occupied for the rest of the day, and therefore our time would be better spent by going to another town close by - Besalu.
This was the right decision, because Besalu is a goregous little town (population of less than 5,000), with a romanic bridge at its centre. There was a cathedral, ...
