Our visit to Greymouth was only very short. We arrived at about 4pm and left the following day. During the evening we went on the Monteiths Brewery tour. Unfortunately the brewery was actually undertaking refurbishment's but for a discounted price we watched a video about the brewery and then got to try all the beers, ale and cider. Greymouth is de grootste stad aan de westkust van het Zuidereiland van Nieuw-Zeeland met ongeveer 12.000 inwoners. De stad is in 1868 vernoemd naar de rivier de Grey, die hier uitmondt in de Tasmanzee.

... den ich selber nicht gesehen habe ging es dann abseits der Straße weiter bergauf. Mit der Gruppe von Wanderern zwischen 10 und 65 Jahren liefen wir quer durch den Wald. Und ich meine wirklich quer. Über Stock und Wurzeln oder durch Büsche hindurch. Alles war dabei. Gut 1 ½ Stunden später erreichten wir die höchste Stelle. Doch kein Lookout. Erst beim hinunter gehen über die Schotterstraße hatte meinen guten Ausblick auf den Lake Rotoroa.
