Calle 9 de Julio no. 175 Ushuaia, Province of Tierra del Fuego, Patagonia, Argentina, 02901-430525
Ushuaia. Try saying that quickly five times. This was our next stop after the towers of pain and is quite literally at the end of the earth. It's the southernmost city in the world and lies on the shores of Tierra del Fuego overlooking the Beagle channel. We were expecting a mecca of outdoor activities. What we got instead was a very sick Shorty coughing up phlegm balls and constantly blowing his nose. So once again I saw a town the through lense of a sick person and I have to say it didn't d...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina shortyesquire... 45 pesos to ski, SOLD! Snow problem! I enjoy my 1st turns of the season in the blistering cold, so stoked that I am skiing in October and that its snowing. I meet a very friendly Brazilian gentlemen who invites me to lunch. I think he was anticipating some ski tips. By the afternoon two more lifts open and I explore the mountain. Cerro Castro. Cherishing the moment. Turns, turns and more turns.

After ...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina flutterby7011... is really nice. The nice thing about the hotel is that its close to Florida Av which is a pedestrian street with shopping and what not.

Tomorrow we leave Buenos Aires once again and we head out to Uruguay for a couple of days. I'm really missing my kids. Home not so much haha but definitely my babies. No doubt that this next week is going to fly by so I'm going to try my best and enjoy each and every moment I still have left here!
El Calafate, Ushuaia, Buenos Aires, Argentina nana31902... and a success of making something out of nothing. Spending time further south in Cafayete saw the odd bottle of "torrentes" (grape variety) swallowed under a shaddy trees of the occasional vineyard only interrupted a ice cream stop or asado (bbq ). A hitch back to Salta and pick up without wait but, not without pay as it is common for the driver to request a token amount. So together with the other 3 hitchhikers in ...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina thepolishmaori... enemy! Wednesday, myself and Sebastian decided to hike up to the glacier overlooking the town. We got a taxi out to the base of the mountain and started out. In winter its a ski run and so there is a chair lift available but today they were repairing it., so with a grumble we had to hike the whole way up. If there was no chair lift there at all it wouldn`t have bothered me, but there was and it bugged me the ...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina shanem... interesting that the region is called Tierra del Fuego, land of fire, because when the europeans arrived, the yamanas has fires going all the time and in many places. The next day I hiked up to Glacier Martial with a crew from my hostel, Gailee from France, Will from Edmonton and Dennis from Hungary. It took almost all day to get to the top, but the views were worth it once we got there. The water is delicious right off the glacier.
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina luvin2travel... we managed a trip in the Beagle Channel to see some penguins up close! On the way we passed the much photographed "flat trees" which are so windswept that they grow sideways, so of course we took some photos! We also saw the ski resorts and huskies used for sled rides in winter, it´s be an interesting ski destination but considering it´s dark by 3pm you´d have to be up and out on the piste early to make to most of it! To see the penguins we chose ...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina feeandpete... its nature at its best, we awoke to a inch of snow on deck this morning. It is a overcast day, but sun is trying to peak thru, hopefully, This afternoon we are doing a landing at Petermann Island, suppose to be Adele penguins there, probably more seals to see. also 2000 breeding pairs of Gentoo penguins. There are two camerman on board from BBC tv network in England who are filming a documentary on Antarctica on a new Planet Earth series. we are ...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina rogersusieq... Taking a leaf out of Sir David Attenborough's modus operandi, we research and review all points of local naturalist merit by scanning the postcards for sale in the racks. It appears I have not done my research quite properly, as all postcards are of sea lions a-frolicking, whales a-breaching and orcas a-feeding. The kind of stuff that's pretty hard to appreciate from the seat of a motorbike unless you miss a sharp left hander at speed. Besides, all the whales headed ...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina barneyandpier... but just as dramatic with peaks well above the snow-line and plenty of hanging glaciers. There was a lot of open trekking with few markings and most of the time we were following animal trails and tracks - compass and local map essential! We didn´t see another soul but did spot a couple of beavers and numerous eagles and birds of prey, plus we were visited by a local fox in the middle of the night, going through our rubbish bag ...
