Out of a chance discussion with one of the hotel staff (thanks Carrie) about things to do in and around the area I learned of the Cross-Country skiing and snow-shoeing facility at the Chaplin Forest Reservation. As I have never tried either, off I went and had a great time - spent an hour getting use to Cross-Country skiing and then did an hour of Snow-Shoeing and enjoyed it too.
