... and toppings for everyone and then we headed off for a hike round Thetis Lake. It’s a popular destination in the summer for swimming but we saw plenty of people running and walking along the track which is great for fitness training with all the hills. We saw a bald eagle in the distance in one of the trees and again I marvelled at the serene beauty of the spot. Calm waters, dark green trees lining the shore – magical!

Today, Mom and I decided to head off to Beacon Hill Park.

Out of our condo, we took a left onto Johnson Street and then a right onto Douglas Street. We headed straight up Douglas Street until we reached Beacon Hill Park.

Just outside Beacon Hill Park, we noticed several tall totem poles. They were quite beautiful so I took several pictures of them.

For today, we got a great overview of the city, from the harbour and historic town centre to the posh heights of Oak Bay village, where one must have a 7 figure income before even contemplating buying a house, which may or may not have a view of the magnificent coastline. After out two nights in the hostel, we were looking forward to our stay with Carol and Bruce's friends, John and Jennifer who live north of Victoria. We had planned to arrive at their place at about 5.30 as both John, a town planner and Jenifer, a doctor dinished work around that time.
