After an uneventful yet fun drive through France and Belgium we arrived in Amsterdam feeling slightly out of place in a Vantage amongst hundreds of bikes. The walk to the hotel took us through the outskirts of the red-light district and was a strange one; Dad with his business briefcase and wheely **** bag, me with a backpack, hoodie and beard. I will put up a picture oofthis juxtaposition illustrated on the lobby of the hotel.

... I ended up recognizing a theatre and making my way eventually. Swearing a blue streak at the damn world of taxi weasels. My friend later told me that I got off cheap for 16 euro, for an 11 euro fare, since they often run it up to 30 or 40 euro on hapless tourists. Luckily I called him on the circle thing fairly early on, so he cut it a bit short. I suspect he left me mile from where I was headed out of spite.
