Bath baby!

... pretty streets, especially when all the Christmas lights are up, is a lot of fun.

On the Saturday afternoon we went on a bus tour to Stonehenge and the town of Lacock. Stonehenge was impressive, but the presence of hundreds of tourists, a highway nearby and the fact you can't get very close to the stones does marr the experience somewhat. It doesn't feel all that magical or spiritual.

I didn't know anything about Lacock, but am really glad I ...

Time To Take A Bath!

... friend’s birthday party, Di and Ash took us on a lovely tour of Bradford-on-Avon, a delightfully quaint and whimsical little town. Our first stop there was The Bridge tea shop – where, finally, I had my huge scones with clotted cream and jam, and a delicious pot of tea! (Murray and Ash had outrageous cups of hot chocolate with mountains of marshmallows and chocolate flake!) The tea shop itself was really neat – housed in a former blacksmith’s ...

Pete, the one eyed, one horned purple people eater

I manged to buy a car in November, a purple Rover 216! Very sporty.. lol. But I did have to spend a bit of money on it to get it into shape and MOT'd. Well registered in Australia. He and I have had some adventures already but I'm sure plenty of more when I take him to Scotland with me!

Enjoy the photos of Pete

November in Trowbridge

... old guy.. Mr Scrooge I think his name was. One place had gone all out, with a spooky entrance and a grave in the front yard. The kids had great fun, lots of lollies. One poor kid got to running around and tripped over on the road.. lollies and body parts everywhere!!

Guy Fawkes night was a good night.. cold though. The school put on a fireworks display and fireworks went off all over the town, that night, the weekend before and for about 3 days after!! lol

Stonehenge to Bath to London

After Stonehenge, we started driving towards Bath which is a couple of hours away, so the driver gave us a bit of a tour on the way there. We saw things like the "worlds smallest prison", and a horse scraped into the side of a hill exposing white soil? beneath the grass. Apparently it was put there to signify if you were in a certain kingdom or not (forget the king's name of that area). We also learned that the Red Lion Pub is the most ...

Stonehenge and Bath

... were erected, why they were placed that way, how many people were involved and so many things to ponder. I've read from most sources that it was a burial ground. Anyway, it was fascinating, although I was there with quite a massive group of tourists.

Oxford and Northamptonshire

... Story." The Oxford Story is an attraction that is set in a large building. You go in, pay your 6 quid or whatever, and then you get to take a slow ride in a moving chair through an exhibit of wax figures and carefully designed scenes that show the history of Oxford and the important people who have attended. While you are riding you wear headphones that tell the story in 6 different languages. You have to pick only one, though. After the Oxford Story, we ...

Stonehenge

I end up on a bus with 25 women from Vietnam. The trip is somewhat taxing and suddenly it turns out that my motion sickness is back. I get some pill from one of the passengers, and by the time we reach Stonehenge I begin to feel alive again.

Stonehenge is this pile of megalitic rocks brought from Wales by the Celts, although it's just one of the countless theories about this place. It is located on a vast plain in the middle of ...
