Dordogne - Bastides, chateaux and walnuts

At Castelnaud, the castle had displays of armoury, furniture and the medieval weapons such as trebuchets, predrero and manganel. The view from the top was again spectacular up and down the Dordogne Valley. It is so hard to imagine the difficulties of their construction ...
Everywhere we look, a bloody castle!
Roger wanted to go visit some pretty spectacular gardens today. We haven't actually seen much in the way of typical French parterre type gardens since we've been here. We missed the one's at Louis' place. This garden is about 80k's from where we are staying, and like just about everything here, located on the top of a hill!
