... the first time we have seen this. They certainly wouldn't be able to do this back home in our nanny state! We finally reached Searsport (just short of Belfast) under heavy pea soup fog - so much for coming here for the views! Checked into a cheap motel with a wifi connection that was almost non existent & useless. The only place open was the takeaway in the gas station across the road, so ate pretty poorly that night. ... but I can't complain......other hikers were stuck on the ridge line, during the last two big storms, and I was warm and clean in a hotel room both nights. When we arrived at Zealand Falls Hut, there was a South bounder named Hercules was there. He was staying for the night. Cool guy who made everyone laugh. ... Those 20 minutes were difficult knowing we could not communicate with them via walkie talkies. Our final farewell was a flash of our hazard lights and a wave out the window.
