... sharing the camp fire. Nice. Today, Jim and I arose early and started our drive north. After a few directional miscues, we found our way to the proper state road. So far have traveled through Manistee (small, homes are older and not as kept as in Ludington but still cute; Cadillac, Kalkaska -tired looking, and Petosky - really really charming & picturesque - loved the vintage flavor). The weather today is partly cloudy & warmer! This is a ...

Severe thunderstorm on the way...so we booked!

Nice motel - glad it's brick because there is a MAJOR storm coming through this area tonight!

... were warned not to attempt the hike to the water and back up the sand dunes, we now understand why. Documents say it is a steep 450 foot drop; it looks more like 4,500 foot drop. From the lookout area on top of the Dunes, people on the shore below look like ants.

We could spend weeks in this area, beautiful hikes and so much to take in. I am sure we will return!

Today, the 12th, we toured on up the western peninsula shore line of Lake Michigan ...
