Today we had a restful day, just taking in the local sights in Florence; the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and the Ufizzi galleria to name a few. We went to the Piazza de Michelangelo where we could take in expansive views of Florence and saw a bronze copy of David - could photograph this one. A very lazy start, compounded by daylight saving in Italy kicking in overnight, we didn't crack the first chocolate egg until 9.30. Then suddenly, the sound of drums in the street lit the gang into a frenzy of activity, rushing downstairs to catch the start of the Easter parade. From this point, we were split into three groups, and would not reunite for the next 2 hours.

We were soon home as Brian supervised ( well not really) William taking a shower and he slipped and fell back on the tile floor, too busy watching the soccer to think his child may need a bath mat on a slippy wet floor...both boys to bed and time to fully relax and finish the wine... Lunch was at Finisterrae, a Mediterranean restaurant on the Piazza Santa Croce. It was very nice.

We were then released to explore Florence on our own. We decided to visit the Basilica of Santa Croce, the principal Franciscan church here. It is the burial place of some of the most illustrious Italians, including Michelangelo, Galileo and Machiavelli.
