    ... unusual. The French are connoisseurs with many foods and wine but not the coffee we were accustomed with. I looked out the window this afternoon and walking through the car park was a man (a Billy Connelly look alike) with a crow sitting on his forearm! The evening was spent with Sue and Peter - and was very entertaining. Peter reminds me so much of Ted Forsyth and has such a wonderful dry wit.     ... the days ride was only expected to be about 40kms we were all ok with the additional kms. A few hills were put in for good measure but they were nothing we couldn't deal with. We sat in the shade of a walnut tree and enjoyed our morning hydration stop and a few had a rhubarb tart. The setting was beautiful - the valley below had rows and rows of vineyards.     ... a little layby and were envious of the sky blue water inviting us for a dip in the backyard pool of the house we had stopped by. There was also a cake on the outdoor table cooling in the sun - seemed a little odd. The chateaux we could see was actually Mick Jagger's 16th century villa La Fourchette.     ... 233; (was one of the many that inspired Walt Disney). Our joints were noticing the rocky path and the sun was now scorching down on us. We stopped for a refreshment and Vicky explored the castle. On the last leg of our journey we went through more vineyards and came across a huge mound - which was a store for wine/grapes - it was like a semi buries water tank.
