2 hours in Monaco

ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.

... have an amazing view from Colline du Chateau. On saturday (November 28) we had sunshine and 19 degrees (end of November) and I was even swimming in the sea (15 gegrees), on sunday, November 29 we had rain and thunderstorms so that caused a delay of the plane of three hours. Best breakfast in town you find in "Les pains a tables" close to the market. Nice is a city IŽd love to visit once a year minimum.....

It is less than 4 weeks now until I leave. There is much to do. I am trying to prepare myself for "teaching" 20 - 25 children. A bit of a challenge that. Much as I have known that I have always wanted to do something like this, now that it ...

... hand lounge chairs. Thus we have to be pretty organised - everything has a home and has to go back there as soon as you've finished with it. This also means that every takes a long time... so our alarm goes off at 6,30am. This gives us 30 min to awake from our sleepy haze then coffee and breakfast 1/2 hr. Then make the bed into table and chairs. Change into running gear and run round the current place of abode. Shower and dress... even if we did everything with military ...

... curly so it really isn't surprising that accidents are a regular occurrence.

Monaco is the world's second smallest country (after Vatican City) less than 2 square km, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in decadence! Streets are manicured, lavish hotels and casinos line the waterfront, and the harbour is chock a block with gigantic, plush boats.

Once we arrived we visited the Palais du Prince (or ...

Day Spas, 4 Stars (but no celebs) and Pebbley Bums

... Dee tentatively organised herself an appointment for some 'girly stuff'. She had inquired at the hostel if they knew of anywhere, as she was a bit scared to wait til Spain, unsure of what she might end up with. After locating the recommended place, Dee tried to explain what she required to the lady - who spoke no English - so there were some very amusing hand gestures. Dee was dreading the experience slightly as she hoped her request had been understood ok. She should not have stressed as ...

French Riviera Loungin'

... we’d seen on our previous trip down. (For those who may not know, due to France’s colonial history with Vietnam there are a lot of Vietnamese French, thus Vietnamese cuisine here is easy to find and generally very good.) We had a crab and asparagus soup, excellent fried rice, more nems, a fantastic yellow curry and a killer sweet and sour chicken dish. Another excellent bed picnic was had.

The next stop was three days at the ...

The French Riviera

I left Barcelona bright and early on the 5th heading for some town in the Riviera but not sure of my destination. On the train from Barcelona, I met a couple of guys from Australia who were traveling for a couple of months as well. Their names were Andrew and Ric and they were heading to Nice. I knew that I wanted to go there eventually so I decided to tag along with them. Once in Nice, we checked into a ...

... place, sure I had seen my fair share of the wealthy and how they lived, but this was beyond my comprehension. The wastage of money on absolutely unnecessary things when so many, probably not so far from Monte Carlo, were struggling to get by was exhausting to watch. I was also disappointed that I hadn't seen Victoria Beckham or caught the eye of an Italian popstar, and so to Nice. The term youth hostel and Monaco are barely in the same dictionary, so it was back into good old ...
