    ... it was like riding up a steep slope even though it was flat! It was lovely and sunny and so scenic though. We made our way back to the hire place and walked the 5 or so mins back to our place. Doug cooked us a lovely meal and after we spent a good 15-20 mins in the sauna. We then watched the muppets Christmas carol that Doug rented on iTunes on the TV in the cottage. It was so cosy and it was difficult staying awake but had to be done.     We drive back through the Marlborough wine region and its huge vineyards. The temperature gauge keeps going up. It reaches 26c which is the warmest we have had yet in New Zealand. The sky is still clear and brilliant blue.

    We stop in Blenheim. Kirsty decides to buy some New Zealand wine to try them out (in addition to buying her favourite Australian wine too!), perhaps persuaded by the endless sight of grapevines we drove through!
