I was absolutely gutted to have to leave Yealands before the big post vintage party which happens each year. However I had to make to way to South Africa for my next big adventure so I can't complain really. ... full-sized Mercedes Benz, we knew it was going to be a great day. It was about an hour's drive from Nelson to the first winery and during the drive we had a great chat with Allan, an amazing fellow with numerous experiences. He was a commercial pilot and flew airplanes up and down the South Island carrying people, cargo and an air ambulance; he also owned and managed an apple orchard, and now does tours. He was very friendly, charming and proud to show us his New Zealand. ...

... sometime, somewhere. I /think/ my trouble was with the dimensions (and maybe the kinda-loose waterskirt) - are sea kayaks supposed to be rotatable? It's probably possible with at least the red one though. Maybe I'll come back and show them sometime ^^ :P

... several lovely parks and some nice old buildings on some of the arterial roads. There are also, of course, the many vineyards in the area that are always attractive to look at, if not sample. We recognised many of the names as we drove round. However, the main centre of Blenheim is very disappointing. If you can imagine Ellesmere Port at its very best, throw in some beautiful weather, classy parks and a river running through it, ...
