... We met a couple from Texas and lunched with them at the brewery. We spent some time wandering the little alleyways and backstreets to see the less touristy parts of this beautiful old city. Dinner near the town center consisted of Belgian shrimp croquettes, Belgian steak, rack of lamb, a French merlot, and coffee with a waffle with ice cream and strawberries. Lovely lovely lovely, and a fine farewell dinner for both. Tomorrow we head for Flanders and WW 1 ...

... then took a boat tour along the mid-town canal. The city is very old and beautiful and feels like stepping back a few centuries. Wartime damage has all been restored. We walked the central area til we realized it was 7:45. It stays light very late here. Every square is lined with bars and eateries. Finally starting to relax I think. It's taken nearly a week off to unwind and get my head out of NZ space and the stress and anxiety associated. Woke up this morning and felt calmer than I have in ages... I didn't even think I was stressed in New Zealand. Must have been more stressed than I had previously thought. Had delicious breakfast of a boiled egg, cheese, meats and bread at the hotel before wandering into the canals again. So much to see. So many Churches just for starters. Saw ...

... in the river; I sat at the back and couldn't hear the guide over the engine, but it was such a sunny day I didn't really mind. At any rate, the highlight for me were the ducklings paddling around with mom, and a really pretty bird (no idea what it was) sitting on a nest under a willow tree.

... tours so it is quite touristy. That being said things are definitely cheaper here than in Brussels. Food, drinks and souvenirs are all slightly cheaper which is excellent!

Anyway strolling and shopping is pretty much all we did other than watch the Olympics! GO AUSTRALIA!!! (And if Australia isn't doing well, team GB!!!)
