... the autumn through some sections you just end up knee high in leaves. After the woods the terrain changed back to mountain pastureland. Up ahead we came across a mountain hut built by the Navarra government. Perfect timing to have a break and half a sandwich I'd had made at Hontto. New signposts and a cattle grid just before the hut gave me the feeling that we had arrived in Spain but those were the only clues. No "Bienvenidos a España" sign. ...

... of my walk. What i thought was a 5km leisurely walk to the gîtes in Hontto turned out to be one of the toughest aerobic tests ever. I think it has taught me a lesson that for tomorrow's 22km I need to pace myself. The gîtes in Hontto isn't too bad. I've just had dinner comprising of a four course meal with aperitif and wine.
