... so lovely. We parked up under trees beside their house. We were lucky enough to have an apricot tree beside us laden with fruit. Every time I hear a thud on the ground I run out to replenish the fruit bowl - at the owners suggestion. We suggested we may like a tasting and were invited inside for a sample. Very nice it was too and we now have some on board. He was telling us that the local stone in this area is chalk ...

Spots of rain after breakfast came as a shock but had passed by11.30 so we took the opportunity to go on the bikes as planned for today. We cycled to the small but pretty town of St Loup and although the round trip was less than ten miles there were a lot of hills to tackle and the heat was excessive. The town (being a Sunday) was deserted, and I half expected to see ...

    Market Day - Airvault.

Saturday is market day in Airvault and I was told not to expect too much as it is small, and indeed it is! It is simply a produce market. There are no T-shirts and CDs, sunglasses or mobile phones for sale, just locally produced items provided by local people. There are wines and cheeses sold by the makers. Sea-food and sausages, pate ...
