... were very old and mostly original but some were rebuilt around the canals that wove around the old city.it was a very ornate town with lace, chocolate shops and taverns everywhere. There was a triathlon on and there were barricades everywhere. We went on a canal cruise but even this was interrupted by the triathlon (I don't know how anyone could swim in those canals but they did). ... throught the trip (should have got off once we'd crossed the border). And we didn't even get a seat after we handed over the 66 Euro!

The regular trains were fine - I'm so annoyed we gave in and paid money just for the convenience of arriving early. But it was all so cheap - we've never got around to filling in that claim form! Our favourite things about France

Austin: Seeing the Eiffel Tower for the top of the Montparnasse was really cool. Also walking through the Louvre and seeing the Mona Lisa was fun. It was exciting to see the Vimy Ridge memorial too.

Shae-Lynn: Seeing Vimy Ridge Memorial was by far the best! Some other great sights were the Louvre and Versailles. Happy Birthday Mom!

... Just when it was getting to the good part, the movie went out. Sigh. I cannot remember the last time I cried at a movie, but I almost bawled over War Horse! Good film. If you have not seen it yet, I highly suggest it. Red Tails was fun. I always like a good WWII film. But this flight does not have Gogo, so I cannot look into seeing how close to reality it was.

Not looking forward to the next jaunt. A five hour flight ...
