... and had coffee and some sweets. Later we drove over to Ellijay which was like a small version of Dahlongea but a bit kitschy. Pretty country though....rolling hills and apple farms.....later we went to a very 1950s diner for a burger and a huge thunder and lightning storm blew through....very fast and tons of rain for about 30 ...

Woke up around doing 8 and had breakfast in the hotel...pretty good actually. Then we were off to Wakinsville first which is a tiny village about 15 min from Athens. It's not big b.ut after a few wrong turns we found the Elder Mill covered bridge outside the town.. It's a pretty area with rolling hills and large cattle/horse farms. We then went to Monroe for coffee ?.small , not exciting town. Then we went back to Athens and spent the afternoon at the Georgia State ...

It was our last day in Savannah...boo hoo! We woke up to another beautiful blue sky but hotter day....it's to reach 30 today and it's muggy again. We walked down Liberty St to J Christopher's for breakfast...sat outside which was nice but the breakfast was only so-so. Guess we are spoiled at home with even White Spot let alone the brunches that are available. We left around 10:30 ...

... drive into Athens. It's the home of the Univ of Georgia and the Bulldogs football team....everyone is football crazy down here.The mascot of course is a Bulldog . We will be trying to find a Resto called The Last Resort which everyone has recommended. Had a very nice dinner at the Last Resort...it used to be a music club and recreated into a rest. ... we quickly and happily surrendered to. After discovering it was actually a university town we capitalised on the $1 gin and tonics and we went to various bars- great atmosphere! Having had a fantastic night in Athens we decided we would stay another night so during the day we went to the Appalachians to hike up a waterfall. This was great however on the way down Alex got stung by a wasp. Funnily enough I then felt a wasp go down my shirt but thinking it had gone away 5 minutes later ...
