The family that now owned Roseland had bought it some years ago. It had been the hunting lodge of the owner's grandfather when it was on the Mississippi! We had lunch at the Castle Restaurant at Dunleith Plantation. This structure was built in the 1790's and was used to house the owner's horses and carriages. The restaurant is supposed to be famous for its fried chicken, but we were not impressed- this chicken did ...

... was to die for. Side plate of coleslaw for me and potato salad for Paul with a corn on the cob each was more than enough. Even had enough meat to bring home in a sandwich for lunch tomorrow!

We took a short stroll to the river and watched the rest of the sun setting.
