We drove through the miles of grassy High Plains from Amarillo through Oklahoma City to Tulsa, OK. We were imagining the buffalo roaming. I-77 turns out to be the only interstate toll road in the US. The toll taker said that 40% of the drivers on I-77 are from out of state and that it was better that they paid for the road than the locals. I am sitting here going over my packing list for the 100th time thinking of all the things I cannot pack until I use them Friday morning. I found out this morning, thanks to Linda, that the adapter she's loaned me will be fine for my laptop, phone charger and psp. So currently I am back in Tulsa for just less than a week. I drove down on Wednesday and surprised Maggie. (She thought I was coming down later...whoops. She doesn't like surprises that much, but I do). So, I'm having a pretty good time here. ... and it was a good dinner topped with a piece of Chocolate Pie. Not too shabby with only 60 miles on the historic route 66 left to Tulsa.

The last few miles we wove through the countryside and were able to see a nice sun set and get safely to our motel in Tulsa. The Desert Hill Motel which is fine for a night, but bright on the inside with a nice shade of lime green.

... the middle. Thank goodness we had two on the right side, so there was no problem with having to sit on 2/3 of a seat next to a 450 pound man! Deb started out next to the window, but I got claustrophobic and John ended up taking that seat, which seemed to work out better for both of us. We were served drinks as soon as we reached our altitude, and right after that a warm lunch of pasta. I was once again surprised at how good the food was. We enjoyed the scenery out the ...
