Historical Traveler Reviews MW Guesthouse Edinburgh

Number one place to stay in edinburgh!

from fawnio

We stayed in the mw guesthouse at the beginning of june and had a brilliant time. it was quite close to the city centre and even at that we never waited any longer than a minute for public transport. The staff were so friendly and helpful which made the stay so much better. when we arrived we received a map from one of the owners who drew on bus routes and tourist spots. They couldnt have been any more helpful. The rooms were beautiful with tons of effort put into making them look perfect. I couldnt criticise their service in anyway. If i went back to edinburgh i would only stay here. In a city which can be expensive for accomodation this guesthouse was worth every penny. Thank you May and James :)

Great place to stay in Edinburgh

from anonymous

On a recent trip to Edinburgh my husband and i stayed at the MW Guesthouse and were delighted with what we found.

High quality of decor and attention to detail not to mention the charming hosts and staff.

It is in a central location with a bus stop on the doorstep into the city centre taking no more than 15 mins, with space to leave the car. A traditional building with modern faciliites and a tasteful modern decor. Having recently stayed in a scottish "castle" at more than double the price of the MW with antique bathroom and floral wallpaper this was a welcome relief and certainly value for money. The breakfast was one of the best i've had. Don't think twice about staying here - but book now as they are very popular.

We loved staying at MW.

We stayed in the bowmore room. It's a spacious and beautiful room that has gorgeous crown moulding. It's clearly an older building with modern decor that makes it so nice.

The breakfasts were hot and delicious too. The hosts are always around to make sure everyone is happy and were so good to our wedding party.

The location is literally walking distance to royal mile and you're very close to arthur's seat.

Many thanks MW!

MW Guesthouse, - very good

My partner and I had a very enjoyable weekend break in Edinburgh, and the hospitality that we received at the MW Guesthouse was fautless. We were made welcome from the time that we walked through the front door. May and James Woods, - the owners, were attentive and personable, always ready to help with advice as to where to visit, good restuarants to recommend, bus timetables etc etc. The en-suite bedroom was comfortable and clean, and the Scottish breakfast really set us up for the day.

Well recommended.

I loved the warm atmosphere and stylish surroundings

The moment we arrived we were all so pleased we'd chosen the MW Guesthouse. The rooms were gorgeous and the people were outstandingly friendly. Breakfast was lovely, with a lot of choice.

I think the owners did make a difference to how well the weekend went - much thanks to James and May for an excellent stay!

Absolutely brilliant!

This is a marvellous place to stay. The welcome we recieved was second to none and the accommadation was first class. There were 14 of us staying at the MW Guesthouse and I can honestly say that every single one of us enjoyed our stay. The rooms & bathrooms are all stylishly decorated and clean & tidy. The breakfast served was delicious with lots of variety to suit all palettes / dietry requirements.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the MW Guesthouse to anyone as it suits all tastes!!!

Lovely place!

May and her staff were so friendly and helpful! The Guesthouse had a large room for our family of four. It was simple to drive to. Even better, the bus stop was just out the door and in minutes we were in Edinburgh to explore. It was a great vacation!

Execellent time at MW's

from anonymous

Having stayed at both the MW Guesthouse and Townhouse for both business and pleasure over the past 3 years I can throughly recommend both houses. Rooms are clean , comfortable , very stylish and a cut above the usual. Breakfasts are excellent and served in very smart surroundings and May and James are good hosts with very friendly and helpful staff.

Top Accomadation & Service!

I had two weeks working in and around Edinburgh and Glasgow. The rooms and service at the MW Guesthouse were excellent. The staff were always helpful and friendly and the service was always with a smile, which is great to see in this day and age! Nothing was ever too much trouble. Even when I had to move on and work around the Glasgow area I preferred to stay at the MW Guesthouse in Edinburgh and commute everyday. I highly recommend the service and there is also the MW Townhouse around the corner which I am sure will have the same outstanding service. Being away from home I found the free internet connection in every room invaluable and just a simple case of plugging in my laptop and hey presto broadband internet! I would like to thank May and the rest of the staff for the wonderful service I received during my time in Scotland. Thanks so much, Cheers and kindest regards Tony Bellamy.

Good Guest house accomodation

We have just had a very pleasant stay at MV Guesthouse this our second visit but this time we had a very nice double room with ensuite facilities, it was very spacious and nicely decorated. Unfortunately we can make no comment on the breakfast as we were so tired after our trip up that we entirely missed the times. I would like to see a late time for breakfast especially on a sunday 9-9.30am is a little early when on holiday needs opening up to 10.30am. We found all facilites availble including an iron and ironing board, this was stated as avaible and to contact reception, it was difficult to make the propretors hear us knocking and would recommend a bell to be fitted in reception but very helpful people and happy to chat and recommend places see and places to go and eat. We were recommended to go to Blonde resturant which is a cosy resturant within 5 minutes walk of the guesthouse and had an offer on for a two course meal for £10 each with a very good selection. Our only wish was that we could have stayed longer but we will be back again in two years time and this time hopefully we will take the Calcutta cup home with us again. The guesthouse is very easy to access the main town as a bus stop is just outside the property and the buses run every 5 minutes. Taxi are also not expensive about £5 from Princes Street. Although our stay was short we had a relax and enjoyed the surroundings.
