... Millross would have enjoyed seeing the shop so I took a few pictures. The Amana Woolen Mill is also an old business, 1855, and the number or spools of thread for the loom is hard to believe.

Does the name Amana make you think of appliances. Well Amana, no relationship, is now owned by Whirlpool and has a plant here.

Tomorrow we leave for our last overnight stop near LaSalle, IL.

... but heart warming and friendly to the core. Every stop brings a treat; full of conversation, interest and good wishes for us to keep safe on our travels. The Purple Onion in Annawan was a classic example - with the best home made apple pie in the county.

As the afternoon drew into the evening we got onto the interstate and crossed over “old man river” – the Mississippi. I’m glad that I was on blog duty ...

... weather forecast is not too good as storms are predicted along our path.

Our destination is Amana Colonies in Amana, IA. This is an historic German town that we stopped briefly on our trip to Alaska in 2012. The town closes up at 5:00 pm so we decided to come back and stay a few nights to check it out. More tomorrow on our venture into town.

... them, and dives head first into the burrow opening, but only comes up with dirt up his nose. I thought they were chipmunks, but they are thirteen-striped ground squirrels.








So tomorrow we will say good bye to the ground squirrels and corn fields. Oh wait, isn't Nebraska the CornHusker State.... Dang, more corn!
