The following reasons for my decision applied:
1. Missing public safety. Too dangerous: Violent theft. Murder. Rape. Kidnapping. For the Germans among you, if you are interested, read what the Auswärtiges Amt has posted about PNG.
2. No arranged/orgainzed/escorted group trips available at this time. Only starting from May.
3. Country has no tourist/ no backpacker infrastructure (imagine, there is no German travel guide book about PNG, only one ...
... a tiger show, wandered through the kangaroo and koala enclosures, saw a ton of very un-nice local snakes in an amazingly large snake house, then picked up Lesley’s picture and headed for the bus; hot and tired, but wondering where the time had gone.
Part way through our visit at the zoo, we heard from some passengers on another excursion (there were 3 different ones you could choose from; ours, one shorter, and one that didn’t even include the ...
... Went for a little walk through the streets and ended up at Woolworths getting tea for the night.
We were quite knackered so went back to the hostel and sat in the Tv room again, ended up watching some films.
Made tea of pasta and garlic bread then went back to the Tv room for a little while. Then we went to sort things out and have showers.
Had an early'ish night watching things.
... our adventure and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. So many pictures to hold on to, so many memories, a gift I am so grateful we have been able to give to our girls.
So we close this chapter of our adventures I will be adding one more entry soon with all our costings just for future reference before I create this blog into a book. A huge 22596km travelled in our epic journey.

We next went to the Purling Brook area and wandered the 100m down to the lookout to admire the view. By this point we were walked and rainforested out and rather than do another walk, we figured we'd go back and pack up our tent, eat some lunch, and make our way to Brisbane, where we had arranged to stay with some friends for the weekend.
The drive to Brisbane passed smoothly ...
