Bangkok Beginnings

After a long but uneventful flight I landed in Bangkok. The first thing you notice is that despite the fact that foreigners come here all the time, not many staff speak or understand English. Despite this I still made it through customs with many a bow and thank you. It seems manners go down well here. This bodes well for me.

We were woken up but our alarm at 9:00am and felt surprisingly fresh, given that was 3:00am GMT. An hour later we were out of the hostel sun creamed and insect repellent covering every inch of our bodies.... Literally!
There was a swarm of tuktuks awaiting custom outside our hostel, we jumped in and hoped for the best! Our first destination …

Finally arrived :)

So, after 2 long haul, hilarious, wine fuelled flights, we arrived in Bangkok at 7pm Sunday evening. We jumped straight in a bright pink taxi to our hostel to check in. We were both pleasantly surprised that it wasn't cockroach infested, like we had imagined, and very relieved that there was aircon considering that it was 32 degrees outside! We …

Dear god the humidity

I arrived in bangkok and had to queue for about 10 years to get through immigration and quickly grabbed my bag and went for a taxi. I wish I'd stayed in the nice air conditioned airport. It's like stepping into those mist things at morrisons or posh gardens, it's just so humid. At least everyone else looks as gross and sweaty as me. My hostel is …

Experiences of Bangkok

So we are finally on our adventure. Aptly it was raining on our way to Rainham Station. Flight with Jet Airways was excellent with a 2 hour layover in Dehli, the Indian customs and security is a bit of a pain but can't really grumble, slept better than in smithy's house anyway :-). Had fun at Thai immigration though as my phone battery died which …

This hostel was sweet!! I loved the way it was decorated (super clean and airy) and it had a good traveller vibe about it! Although i have stayed in hostels before this was the first outside of europe, so yea it was certainly a lot nicer than i expected.

    A blessing

This is definitely the best hostel I've ever stayed in. It's not super cheap but it is worth it. Such a slick operation, great room, fun and professional staff and immaculately clean. Also, they chuck in nice freebies on different nights.

We were lucky enough to be there on the day of its annual blessing ceremony. This involved chanting monks and a huge free buffet for all. Don't think they need the blessing though - they're doing pretty well already.

It is very affordable, and it is so clean. No other Hostel and even some Hotels are this clean! Awesome staff, and great location. They have two locations, the Silom Street is where I stayed, but I think the Siam Street location may be better.

You will meet amazing people from all over the world, and you will sleep well. The showers were so great, airy, and lots of natural lighting.

The WiFi is great. I even attended my 3 hour online class from here.

    Breakfast is cheap as well.

The staff is also very knowledgeable...they helped me make my Bangkok itinerary.

Met some nice people and had a good stay at ths lovely boutique hostel. It's a little out of the way, the other Lub d in Siam sq is more central but more costly apparently. All good though, especially if you were travelling alone.
