... adventure. We were up at 4.30am, to be at the blind by 5.30am (first light). We sat quietly and patiently at the blind but it wasn't long before we heard the rustling of feathers, poor Laurie could hear and see the birds but it would be another hour before he could get a photo. Started off the day with a breakfast event at the Niobrara Lodge.

Poked around the area and met a few people, then arrived at the Bull Bash. What a scene! There were beautiful bulls and their owners all along Main Street, and all the stores and restaurants were open with specials and promotions drawing the people in.

We stopped in at the Cherry County GOP storefront to campaign with passers-by, and shook a lot of hands and talked to a lot of ranchers ...

After a long day of campaigning, it was great to enjoy a quiet dinner, just Dawn and me, at the wonderful Neon Grill in the Motel Raine in Valentine. Thanks, Tim and Dana, for a warm and wonderful atmosphere, and your cooking is out of this world!
