10:45am We're back in Portland. It was a 3-hr ride down, Gosh, in the morning, I drove the wrong way in downtown Seattle. They have so many one way streets that I do get confused which direction I can go. Moreover, the roads were so empty at 5:30am. One of the taxis was flashing at me. I hope there are no traffic cams. We arrived in Beijing well actually the Port about 200 kms from the city centre, it was the Tianjin Dojiang International Cruise Home Port. ... difference in price between the “OK” and the “excellent” is a lot less than here, however.

  • English everywhere. Even in the more remote spots, we found folks that were accustomed to speaking and thinking in English. We knew that they are all taught the language in school, but the universal fluency was incredible.
