Monday, July 6, 2015. PCT day 78 miles 1189.2-1198 Today is a nero day. I slept in until 06:30 and left camp by 0730. The trail was all downhill, 8.5 miles into Sierra City, which is at 4200 feet elevation. It definitely felt warmer/hotter down here. I arrived here by 11:30ish. The small town is only about a mile from the trail. I set up camp by the local church. I had my cold shower ...

Sunday, July 5, 2015. PCT day 77. Miles 1163-1189.2 Today was a 26.2 mile day. Yes, I walked a marathon today. I even took a long lunch and nap some time mid-day. The nap definitely felt amazing. Spending the night last night in the hut was a treat as well. There were three other PCTers with me at the hut: Wallaby the 60 something year old Australian man, and the couple in their 20's, Dingo and Cosmic Bubbles. Wallaby is a pleasant person. I enjoy his company ...

Photos for this post and my last one are now up so have a look!

... watch the drops dry on the warm pavement.

The taxi picked us up slightly earlier than we had asked for, but we were ready so we set off for the station. Truckee station consists of a small waiting room and a few benches outside behind a low fence. The rest of the wooden station building is taken up by a visitors centre and an artists centre. It also has three tracks, two for freight and one for passenger services.

The train arrived and one door from one coach ...

... glance the interior appears rather plain. The stained glass windows are very beautiful in an angular sort of way. The great mural painting located behind the altar is considered one of the finest works of its kind in all of America. It was painted by Edith and Esabel Piczek. The theme is the Adoration of the Lamb of God, our Lord of the Blessed Eucharist.

Mass was a wonderful experience. Every Catholic church celebrates Mass essentially the same. Some have parishioners speak ...
