We were a smidgen slower getting up this morning than we planned, yet still managed to make it to the university more or less on time. Jessica was warned that registration was open from 8:00 am to, I forget, 5:00 or 6:00 or something, but that the busiest time was from 8:30 to 10:30 am. ... s the reason I know so much about it. Sadly we couldn't see a room, but we saw plenty of the public spaces including the upstairs dining room, the new entrance (for the hotel, not the riffraff motel one), the ballroom and the Bengal Lounge restaurant and bar. We also got to sit out on the veranda for a bit as we learned how Victoria pretty much bribed Canadian Pacific Rail to build one of their fancy hotels there in an effort to improve the city's image ...

I traveled to Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, today to see the wildlife artist, Robert Bateman, give a talk at the Royal Museum. I loved the talk.
