First Stop Of The Day
... lunch in an Irish Pub of all things, we had very Italian meals though so it was all good. We started off with some local cheeses and thinly sliced meats, Sarah had Gnochi as a main course and I had a panini style sandwich although it was a different type of bread, we than finished things off with an espresso.....it wasn't a sissy one either it was the real deal-zing! It was a good idea though because we needed the energy to survive our next stop on tour.

Massive freshwater lake
... lake was immense! We had a selection of snacks to feed our rumbling bellies quite nicely. Biltong from SA, parma ham from Italy and sausage from France... a happy man! We also had good cheeses, red wine and freshly made olive bread....

... it was great... they took us on bus from place to place explaining everything and showing us how to properly taste the wines so we can really appreciate it. Things like learning how to look at the "legs", seeing the color of the rim, its overall color and smell, and finally the taste. We learned to look at the specific labels and years to see what type of quality the wine is.

Suzie’s Yard: much ado about olives
... are both clearly nervous. After six weeks in one country, one month of solid traveling through no less than five countries – each with their own many cultures, dialects and (often troubled) histories – is a worrying prospect. It is hard to shift into this new consciousness, where you learn a few key phrases in a language and spend your time in youth hostels or tourist honey-traps. Nevertheless, into a bitterly cold Slovenian night we step and, like Orpheus, try our best not to look back.

... seats in the shadow of the trees near a lovely fountain and a bronze statue of Vittorio Emanuele II.
There are remains of a massive Etruscan wall around the city.
We also walked along the narrow Via delle Volta della Pace, which follows the Etruscan city wall, but is now wholly arched over by a Gothic portico (the history of Perugia goes back to the Etruscan period, it is an ancient Etruscan settlement (6th - 1st century BC).
