      ... The beautiful ceiling is the longest continuous medieval vaulted stone ceiling in the world, 96 metres long. Lovely stained glass and lots of light, unlike many Gothic cathedrals.

      Looked at the castle walls, all that remains of the original Rougemont castle built in 1068, (the buildings inside being newer, late 1800s-1905) and then its gardens and moat.

      The circle closes again- we left Janet and David and passed Stonehenge, where we had been on Feb 28th. Sunny day, much warmer than yesterday. Tried to look at Downton Abbey (Highclere Castle) but it was closed for the winter - pity. Stopped at Stourhead Gardens. The house was closed but the gardens ...

      ... get there about 4.00pm so we got the kettle organised and also the wind-up lanterns as we had now discovered that we had lost all our 12v electrics. Luckily I had some matches to light the gas cooker, but could not fire up the fridge nor flush the toilet, all good fun!!!!! Good job we had got 2 full 10l containers of water with us.       ... store so took the opportunity to go in to have a look at a few bits and bobs that we need. Then along an old tram track in to the main part of the town, past some very decrepid-looking houses and boarded-up shops, not an auspicious start! We found loads of charity and pound shops, Lidl and not much else, obviously a somewhat poor seaside town.
