      Finger Lakes Quick Tour

We started out from Marleen & Chris's house on Waneta Lake and drove to Hammondsport where we stopped at a bakery and had breakfast. It was a place where people knew and greeted each other by name. With the cool, rainy weather, it was pretty quiet on the streets compared to the summer high season.

From Hammonsport, we drove eastward through Watkins Glen to Ithaca. There we attempted to park in order to see/walk to one of the famous gorges on the campus ...

... over to the Lake to enjoy the fog enveloped park and lake. It was really very relaxing.

Watkins Glen State Park is located minutes away from our campsite. It's the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks, with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound. Within two miles, the glen's stream descends 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, generating 19 waterfalls along its course. The gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through ...

We drove out past the Pentagon south to Springfield to Sue Tampio and Craig Iorns house for a lovely lunch and catch up out on their deck. We left them and got as far as Hagerstown. Went out for ...

... it being Labor Day. Even the ride through Cincinnati was done with no issues, again probably because of the holiday and Bill's scheduling us through at 7 pm. The temperatures stayed moderate (84 max) all day and we found ourselves in Florence, KY ay 8 pm with 620 miles down and a reasonable ride facing us to get home tomorrow. A quick meal at McDonalds and a showers and to bed for a great nights ...

      And The Rains Came

Woke up about 7 to the sound of light rain on the tent. This was the harbinger of the day as the rain set in as a steady steam df moisture for the day, with occasional periods of "brightness" interspersed at various times. Very glad that we drug the awning across half the US and Canada as it provided the perfect spot to sit and watch the world. Breakfast at the rally is furnished by a ...
