This past weekend, we headed up to Snowshoe, WV for a long weekend of skiing, snowstorms, and frozen waterfalls. In past years, we had driven up on Friday and skiied Saturday and Sunday and returned on Monday. Saturday’s the busiest skiing day, so this year, we drove up Saturday, skiied Sunday and Monday, and then drove back Tuesday, hoping to encounter fewer people on the slopes. We left early Saturday morning as we planned to ...

West Virginia sometimes feels like a place left back in time.
It’s probably the only state that has fewer people than a century ago, an
outmigration have has led to a situation where very little new has been built
for decades. The houses all seem at least a half century old, and towns have

We took ourselves down into the basement to see where the slaves worked. Jefferson was quite and inventor and he built a clock which not only tells the time but also shows the day of the week. It is over 200 years old and still works. It chimes on the hour and the chime could be ...

... and Greenbrier Railroad. They don't have any trains running tonight or tomorrow, so tomorrow we're going to drive about 10 miles to Cass, WV, and check out the Cass Railroad. They have several steam engines and a couple of different rides we could take. Haven't decided whether to ride or just take photos. That may depend on whether or not the train goes close enough to roads to be able to get ahead of the trains at several points and ...
