Walk in the Park
With only one day to explore Yosemite by foot – it was challenging to decide which walk to do. In the end we decided on a 5.5 hour hike up to Verna Falls and then onto Nevada Falls. Yoss-emm-ee-tee
... made it, alive, intensely saddle sore, back to the stables, proud of our cowgirl achievements. Definitely a more effective way of seeing the views as we were unlikely to hike to such heights in the 39°C heat, and appropriate (ish) even for horseback beginners. A welcome earned sunbathe at one of the mountain stream beaches followed with a dip in the icy rivers, but be warned, insect and potentially bear repellent are essential.

... We got out and stretched our legs for a little amble around Tenaya Lake and then again for a short hike around the area of Lembert Dome. I was craving a fireside birthday bevvie though and accepted that navigating the snaking road back to Hodgson would be best completed prior to starting with that... After all, I had Mom gripping the “holy ****” handle hard enough on the drive up, what with no shoulder and no barriers between Milly's chassis and the valley bottoms below.
