Another nightbus brought me from Cuzco to Arequipa, the second largest city in Peru. A nice city-centre and excellent excursion opportunities speak for Arequipa. The pics include a two day trekking to the Colca Canyon, home of the impressive condors.

Climbing the 5825m volcano "el misti" was definitely a unique experience and a very demanding one! Climing 1200m of altitude the first day to spend the night at the height of 4600m before ascending another 1200m at 1am, not to mention the decline of 2400m the same day...lots of excitement!

... hij gelijk in, voor nog geen 4 euro hadden we een verse Yugo mango con leche (mangosap met melk) en een bak (echt een bak, geen haagse gierigheid hier) vers fruit overgoten met aardbeienyoghurt.

Hierna zijn we zelf verder gelopen naar het centrum van Lima om de rest van de stad te verkennen. Na deze middag wisten we al dat we niet lang in Lima wilden blijven: drukte, getoeter en weinig mooie gebouwen. We wilden allemaal liever verder naar de rust! ...
